What If Today… You Were Reminded?

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.” ~ Martha Graham

Do you ever forget who you are? Why you’re here? What you love to do?

I do.

All the time.

I don’t know why today of all days I was blessed to remember.

It took one little girl – a stranger – full of innocent love and light to open my eyes to see the rest of the children as individuals, each of them with a unique and brilliant story that I really wanted to hear.

I know that sounds strange. But I got the goosebumps from head to toe as I looked around at the sea of children exiting buses and making their way inside. I really looked at them. Not past them or through them.

And then it hit me. I was back again. I was connected and whole.

I made my way to my car, beaming and joyful.

I remembered my dream. I couldn’t believe I’d forgotten. I’d been pushing so hard in the wrong direction instead of following my heart and trusting that being me was enough.

So, I know you don’t know what I’m talking about, but do you hear and understand what I’m saying?

I truly believe, because I live it all the time, that the Universe, as they say, won’t let you go too far away from who you are and what gifts you have to offer the world before it wakes you up.

The first person we learn to lead is ourselves. Listening to who we are – what brings us and the world joy – takes patience, courage, and willingness to admit that the truth was there all along.

Sometimes we will have to be reminded.

    • I was thinking about my friends as I wrote this- the ones I know through writing- and how strong you all are. Those of you who have businesses and write a blog for it are so focused and grounded it seems. i really appreciate that because wen I see and feel your conviction about who you are in the world it strengthens me somehow and encourages me to stay focused too.
      Thank you, Amber-Lee!

    • Aren’t the “tingles” the best? I can go on and on without that kind of confirmation that I’m on the right path. And then when they come I get so excited. I forget how neccessary it is to get that kind of validation. Friends can encourage, but in the end we have to know for ourselves. Right?
      Thanks for coming by, Carolyn!
